Assam Brings Digital Education Vans to Remote Tea Estates

Assam’s Education Department has deployed Digital Education Vans equipped with smart TVs, tablets, and solar-powered internet to tea estate regions. These mobile classrooms cater to children of plantation workers who lack access to digital learning. Volunteers and retired teachers conduct two-hour sessions on basic literacy, math, and Assamese and English language skills. Over 2,500 children have benefitted in Dibrugarh and Tinsukia. Parents are also being trained in digital awareness and parenting support. Authorities plan to expand the program to health education and skill development in future phases. The initiative brings education to the doorstep of some of the state’s most underserved communities.
