To promote millets and healthy eating, Telangana has opened “Millet Cafés” in Hyderabad and Warangal, offering snacks and meals made from jowar, bajra, and ragi. The menu includes millet idlis, dosas, cutlets, and sweets. These cafés are run by women-led SHGs and get produce from tribal farming collectives. Urban youth are flocking to these places for affordable, nutritious food. Cafés also offer millet cooking demos and nutrition sessions. Daily footfall has crossed 2,000 in some locations. Nutritionists applaud the initiative for its focus on local, fiber-rich, and low-GI grains. With rising demand, the government plans to launch millet food trucks in IT corridors and colleges.
